Welcome to Merchant Taylors’ School

This role will be an exciting opportunity to lead the next development of marketing and admissions at a leading London boys’ school. Merchant Taylors’ is one of the Great Nine independent schools.

The School is over-subscribed and popular, offering an attractive blend of academic education with a dazzling array of extra-curricular opportunities. The school has a clear sense of its identity and values. The successful candidate, as a member of the School’s Leadership Team, will define and lead the strategic communication of that brand.

Further, they will have oversight of an established and effective Admissions Team. Finally, they will co-ordinate and lead the variety of ways in which the school communicates with others, including social media and digital marketing.

The successful candidate will also work alongside a strong Development Team to ensure that all stake-holders, from prospective parents to Old Merchant Taylors’ understand and appreciate the message of The School.

The Opportunity

The main purpose of this role is to devise and implement marketing, communications and admissions strategies, and ensure that they are aligned with the School’s purpose, vision, values and priorities, effectively differentiating Merchant Taylors’ School.

Reporting to the Head Master, this is a newly created role, and the Director of Marketing and Admissions will be a valued member of our Senior Leadership Team. They will also inspire and lead a team of six, with three direct reports.

This is a pivotal role as we seek to raise the profile of the School in key target areas across our broad catchment. You will take the lead in developing and delivering outstanding marketing and communications plans and will build and maintain excellent relationships with all key stakeholders, both internal and external.

We are fortunate to have extensive waiting lists at both entry points (11+ and 13+), and you will provide inspirational leadership to the Registrar and admissions team to ensure we remain a first choice school in London and beyond. You will also develop new and innovative ways to reach more pupils who would benefit from our generous and transformational Bursary scheme (free places).

This varied and fast paced role will most likely be suited to a dynamic and creative marketer, with extensive digital skills gained within or outside the education sector. You will have an instinctive feel for the School’s customers and their needs and bring the relevant skills to undertake this exciting job.

· Longlist interviews will take place at Merchant Taylors’ School on Tuesday 23rd May 2023 and Wednesday 24th May 2023
· Shortlist interview will be held on Wednesday 7th June 2023
