Director of Admissions

Salary: In the region of £75,000-£85,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools consists of Haberdashers’ Boys’ School, founded in 1690 and Haberdashers’ Girls’ School, founded in 1875. Habs Boys and Habs Girls are leading independent day schools for some 2500 pupils aged 4 to 18. Co-located on the same stunning 100-acre campus, the schools are situated in Elstree, Hertfordshire, within easy reach of London.

The schools are dynamic and forward thinking, offering a broad academic curriculum and global perspective, equipping young people for today’s changing world. The Governing Body of the two schools has developed an exciting and ambitious strategy for the next 10 years, which sees them working increasingly closely together whilst delivering the very best of single sex-education in a truly co-educational and collaborative environment.

The Director of Admissions is a newly created role and presents a unique opportunity for an exceptional individual to build and shape the joint Admissions Team across both schools. Reporting directly to the two Heads and working closely with the Executive Principal, as a member of the Extended Leadership Groups and Joint Senior Leadership Teams, the post holder will provide inspiring and strategic leadership of pupil recruitment activities and bursary strategy across both schools, build a world-class admissions team and deliver an exceptional customer journey.

This is a high-profile and exciting leadership position and will most likely attract an experienced professional from the education sector with a track record of success in an admissions or student recruitment context. Prior experience in a schools admissions context is not essential but the successful candidate will have good knowledge and understanding of the independent educational landscape and an instinctive feel for the schools’ customers.

The successful candidate will bring significant leadership experience and will be an articulate, persuasive and credible ambassador for the schools. Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship building skills will be essential, as will the agility and strategic skills to respond to future challenges and opportunities across the independent school sector.
