Director of Admissions

Required to start May/June 2024

St George’s, Ascot (SGA) is an independent boarding and day school with approximately 270 pupils aged from 11-18 years about 45% of whom are boarders (full, weekly and flexi) and with a Sixth Form of approximately 80 pupils.

We are a welcoming school with a warm sense of community. Visitors are impressed by our facilities within a beautiful setting and the ambition of our educational provision, but most of all they are delighted by the girls who are truly special.

St George’s offers an education that is grounded, relevant and fosters employability. Our unique extended day allows all girls the time and space to foster confidence, independence and academic curiosity providing a future-facing education exclusively for girls in a world that was not designed for girls and introduces the girls to contemporary subjects and topics, through speakers, workshops, classes and visits.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic full-time Director of Admissions.
This is a high profile position at the School and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a strong performing Admissions department consisting of two other members of staff. The Director reports to, and works closely with, the Head and is responsible for key decisions that directly impact pupil recruitment.

They will play a vital role in the continued success of St George’s and will benefit from working in an exciting, results focused, innovative, rewarding and friendly workplace. A role with considerable variety, it is enhanced with some overseas travel and a range of benefits as outlined below.

This is a full-time role, working throughout the year and the normal hours of work will be 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break for lunch.

The successful candidate will be auto-enrolled into the School’s defined contribution pension scheme. Lunch is provided free of charge during term time. Members of staff can use the School’s sports facilities at allocated times and there is free on-site parking. The post holder’s daughters may, upon passing the entrance assessments, be eligible at the discretion of the Governors for a reduction on day fees.

It is hoped that the successful candidate will be available to join the School in May/June 2024.

How to apply:
Letters of application to the Head, Mrs Liz Hewer, should be no more than two sides of A4 and, together with the completed application form and confidential cover sheet, should be emailed to recruitment@stgeorges-ascot.org.uk and reach the School by midday on Monday 11 March with first round interviews taking place on the afternoon of Friday 15 March and final round interviews shortly thereafter.
Any queries about this post may be made in the first instance to the Head’s PA, Jacky Witt, jwitt@stgeorges-ascot.org.uk

The School reserves the right to interview suitable candidates before that date, if deemed necessary.

St George’s School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children at the School. A review of open source social media and online content will be conducted after candidates have been shortlisted and you may be asked about this at interview. The appointment will be subject to a successful disclosure check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. This will
give details of all spent and unspent convictions and other recordable matters. A policy on the recruitment of ex-offenders is available, if required, from the School Office. The supplied references will be taken up and the School may approach previous employers for information to verify particular experience or qualifications. A medical questionnaire will be required to be completed by the successful candidate.
