Director of Admissions

Lancing College is one of the UK’s leading independent co-educational boarding and day schools for just over 600 pupils aged 13-18. Located in West Sussex, east of Worthing, the College stands in an impressive estate of some hundreds of acres. The Lancing family of schools also comprises prep schools in Worthing and Hove and Little Lancing, a day Nursery and Forest School.

The College is seeking to appoint an energetic, forward thinking and ambitious Director of Admissions to provide dynamic leadership to the Admissions Office and fulfil a key ambassadorial role at a time when the College has concrete plans for its future growth. This role will be instrumental in achieving these plans. The postholder will work closely with the Executive Director External Relations, to maximise the recruitment of a full list of pupils for entry each September and will demonstrate the ability to think strategically and creatively in developing new markets. The role of Director of Admissions is a demanding and wide-ranging senior post requiring a proactive and outgoing approach.

The successful candidate will be an articulate, persuasive and credible ambassador for the College and will possess excellent communication and relationship building skills. They will be able to convey Lancing’s distinctive ethos with enthusiasm and conviction and will possess the ability to assess the range of capabilities and potential of prospective pupils.

This exciting leadership position will most likely be suited to an experienced professional from within the independent schools’ sector with a proven track record within an admissions related context. This could be directly from an Admissions function, or indirectly via hands-on involvement with customer facing aspects of the admissions process, for example as a Housemaster/mistress or another senior role within a senior or prep school.

The salary will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate but will be highly attractive.
