We are seeking to appoint a creative and inspiring Director of External Relations to lead the school during an exciting period in its history. This role arises due to the retirement of the current Director of Development and Alumni Relations after seven very successful years of service to the school.

This restructured job carries increased responsibility and would suit a candidate with experience in marketing and development, ideally in the world of education, although we welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds.

Admissions Registrar (Maternity Cover)

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our School, ensuring that each child’s educational experience begins with a seamless and positive admissions process. The appointed candidate must bring energy and initiative to this role, using their outstanding organisational, IT and interpersonal skills to maintain the department’s current success.

Qualifications/Professional Development

  • Degree level education or equivalent work experience
  • Evidence of recent involvement in professional development

Skills and experience

  • A sound understanding of the admissions process of a Prep school
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • A high degree of computer literacy. Confidence using Google applications is desirable
  • Experience using iSAMS would be an advantage
  • An excellent telephone manner
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage tasks
  • An eye for detail and accuracy
  • A solid understanding of the General Data Protection Regulations to safely manage personal information

Head of Development & Alumni Relations

The overarching purpose of this important role is to lead the Tettenhall College Development Office and to develop and manage an effective, comprehensive programme of fundraising at the School. This will include: a creative and engaging regular giving programme for both parents and alumni, a thoughtful legacy programme, bursary and scholarship programmes and fundraising for specific capital campaigns.

The Head of Development & Alumni Relations is a member of the Extended Senior Leadership Team. The postholder is responsible for coordinating philanthropy, fundraising alumni and wider supporter engagement, on behalf of the College. This is a new role and the successful candidate will lead the foundation and growth of the department. They will work with colleagues within the College, local and regional stakeholders, and national institutions to engage with alumni and potential supporters around the world.

Director of Marketing and Admissions

Reporting to the Headmaster and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Marketing and Admissions will provide strategic direction and flawless delivery of the School’s marketing, communications and admissions activities. This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded, dynamic and creative marketer, who combines demonstrable leadership skills with a track record of success in strategic online and offline marketing communications gained from within or outside the education sector.

This role is pivotal to the strategic development of the Blue Coat vision, as the School explores opportunities for growth within the external market over the next 5-10 years. Prior experience of working in a school is not essential but she/he will have an instinctive feel for the School’s customers and their needs.

Admissions Registrar – Maternity Cover (1 YEAR)

We are seeking a one year maternity cover for the position of Admissions Registrar, commencing August 2021.

The Registrar is required to be knowledgeable about the School and be able to respond to queries quickly and efficiently. As a key member of the Admissions team, the Registrar will take the lead in the recruitment of new pupils from initial enquiry through to registration and eventual enrolment, meeting pupil roll targets. Attention to detail, and a friendly, warm and professional approach will ensure that the admissions process runs smoothly and that prospective parents receive an excellent first impression of The Blue Coat School.

The Registrar will assist the Director of External Relations with marketing responsibilities as required, including the organisation of Open Mornings and Entrance Test Days.
