Role: Head of Marketing and Communications

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

The Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of this role is to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies and ensure they are aligned with the school’s vision. The role will oversee marketing across the whole school to create and disseminate a clear and compelling message which further enhances our brand awareness and understanding across all stakeholder groups.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent working experience
  • A marketing qualification or accreditation would be desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of digital marketing, public relations and corporate communications
  • A genuine interest in working within the education sector
  • IT skills including knowledge of databases e.g. MIS (ISAMS) and CMS / CRM tools
  • Excellent communication skills including literacy with experience of publications/print
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise work
  • A strong team player who can support others in the school
  • Happy to work at all levels required in the role including strategy, operational and administrative task

Head of international Admissions

JOB OVERVIEW

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of International Admissions to join Kent College, Canterbury.

This new role is a key ambassadorial role with scope to further enhance the School’s already excellent reputation nationally and internationally.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, energetic, and confident communicator, with the ability to forge strong working relationships with agents, parents, and pupils. They will need to tap into existing and new markets for international boarding students and promote the KC brand on a global platform. The role is pivotal in ensuring Kent College maintains its vibrant boarding community to agreed target levels and ensuring all parents and their children receive personal attention. The position requires excellent administrative skills and meticulous accuracy.

Kent College is a co-educational school with a Methodist foundation. The school is located in Canterbury, just one hour from the centre of London by train.

The Senior School (11 – 18 years) has some 600 pupils, approximately one-third boarding and two-thirds day. Kent College is proud of its A Level and IB students’ track record of academic success, with consistently excellent exam performance leading to enhanced destinations. There is also a thriving Junior School with some 200 pupils in total.

THE POSITION

Deputy Director of Marketing (Maternity Cover)

Fixed term contract from June 2024 to 7 April 2025 (with the possibility of a temporary, part time extension until 31 August 2025)

Hours and Basis: Full time, all year round.

Salary: based on £39,825.76 1FTE, pro rata for the duration of the fixed term contract.

We are seeking an experienced communications specialist to join our award-winning Marketing Team on a fixed term to cover maternity leave.

It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining our fast-paced environment at one of the UK’s leading independent schools. Within the past year alone we have launched our commercial events brand, Hemsted Park, which was enabled by the opening of the magnificent Centenary Hall, and our multi-media launch campaign earned an AMCIS Communications Impact Award.

In addition, we have seen the opening of Benenden’s first school overseas, while this academic year has been dominated by celebrations marking the School’s Centenary, with the team producing a glossy commemorative book, running a global conference, and hosting a high-profile communications campaign across multiple platforms, including the launch of a new website and updated brand identity. Looking to the future, our priority will include plans to grow the School and further raise its profile, with our expanding day market buoyed by the imminent launch of our first bus service.

The Marketing Team is integral to student recruitment at Benenden, working closely with the Admissions Department on campaigns and long-term strategy. The team’s wide-ranging responsibilities include publications, the website, social media, video production, market research, weekly bulletins, photography, media liaison, advertising and events.

Reporting to the Director of External Relations, our Deputy Director of Marketing (Maternity Cover) will lead the Marketing Team, taking responsibility for publications, digital and video activities and line managing some members of the team.

The successful candidate will be an experienced marketeer who is enthusiastic about sharing the numerous exciting stories of students’ achievements and ambitions. They will need to multi task and enjoy coming up with new ideas. This role involves building relationships with multiple stakeholders internally and externally and the successful candidate will enjoy being part of the Benenden community. The role requires flexibility as many of our events are at weekends and in the evenings.

Admissions Officer

St Michael’s Prep School in Sevenoaks, Kent is recruiting an Admissions Officer to join their team.

The Admissions Officer will be the key point of contact for prospective families and will support the Director of Admissions and Marketing, ensuring that families have the best experience on their admissions journey from their very first point of contact, to their child’s first day and beyond.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of the admissions process, the upkeep of the admissions database and liaising with our prospective families through telephone conversations and email correspondence. The role also includes leading tours of the school for prospective families.

Required to start early December 2023, to cover maternity leave, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed marketing professional.  This role is key to the development and execution of the School’s core marketing and communications activity.  Working closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications the successful candidate will help to deliver effective marketing campaigns to recruit pupils nationally and internationally via print/digital media and other marketing channels. The successful applicant will be an integral part of a busy marketing office and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering engaging social media and website content underpinned by creative copywriting skills, together with supporting key marketing events. Area Manager

We are looking for an Area Manager who is based in the Tunbridge Wells or Canterbury area.

Our Area Managers are compassionate, organised, proactive and responsive people who will be responsible for the well-being of international students. Previous experience in the Independent School sector would be advantageous. This role is mostly full time in term time and part time in the holidays and is hugely flexible, rewarding and varied.
You’ll liaise with students at some of the county’s top independent schools as well as their parents, Registrars, Housemasters, Housemistresses, Matrons and our network of brilliant Host Families.
You’ll need to be flexible – able to work some evenings and weekends – with excellent relationship management and rapport-building so our students feel comfortable with you. You’ll visit students in their boarding houses, attend parents’ meetings, recruit and inspect Host Families and provide emergency support. A driving licence and use of your own car is therefore essential.
